KCR changes tune on Tollywood drug case
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reviewed the progress of drug case investigation with senior police and excise officials recently and said, the drug users would be treated as victims and would not be subjected to legal process. The police would only punish the peddlers but not the ‘victims’ in the case, he added.n nKCR described film actors as 'victims' and clarified that the investigation would only bring more information on the drug peddlers, suppliers. He has stated that all the celebrities from Telugu Film Industry those who were questioned by SIT were not the accused but only the victims, they won't be arrested in drugs case. These latest remarks of KCR have come as a shocker to many given that he himself had earlier stated that no one who is involved in drugs is spared.n nApparently, the special investigation team (SIT) officials brought to his notice that his statement would only dilute the investigation of drug case and the government would become a laughing stock in the eyes of public.n nKCR was speaking at a review meeting on the ongoing drug cases with Anurag Sharma (Director General of Police), M Mahender Reddy (Hyderabad Police Commissioner), Chandravadan (Excise Commissioner), Navinchand (Intelligence IG), NK Singh (Security IG), Akun Sabharwal (Excise Enforcement Director), Shahnawaz Qasim (Cyberabad Joint CP) and other officials.
