A five page letter has been sent to the offices of Prime Minister and Rashtrapati Bhavan by over 80 employees of the Shillong Raj Bhavan, from officers to Peons and they demanded the immediate removal of Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan for “seriously compromising” the dignity of the gubernatorial office. They had alleged that Shanmuganathan had made the Raj Bhavan ‘Young Ladies Club.’
V Shanmuganathan had taken the charge as Meghalaya Governor on 20th May 2015 and additional charges of Arunachal Pradesh from 13th September, 2016.
Yesterday the two civil society groups, Civil Society Women Organization and Thma u Rangli conducted a signature campaign and staged a demonstration outside the Shillong Raj Bhavan and demanded the immediate removal of Governor.
On the other side, Earlier Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said, “I am waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Home Ministry to take a call.”
