Tamilnadu farmers who have been sitting on protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, have reportedly started protesting naked in Delhi on 28th day of their agitation. According to the reports, they stripped outside South Block near Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday after they allegedly not allowed to meet the PM Naresndra Modi. Three of the protesting farmer stripped and rolled on the road by chanting ‘Shiva’. Soon Cop intervened and took the protesters back to their site at Jantar Mantar.
According to the protesters, a group of 9 Tamilnadu farmers, including the leader P Ayyakannu, went to Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet Narendra Modi and to submit their lists of demands and grievances but they were not allowed to enter and asked to send a representative in. They had no other than going naked on the road and three of them between 32 and 59 years, rolled on the ground.
The farmers have been demanding Rs 39,000 Cr drought relief fund from the Centre for the state farmers. They are also demanding for the pensions for survival of old, ailing or now-disabled farmers who are not able to carry out farming practice.
