West Godavari district police claim to have uncovered a conspiracy to kill Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar after taking into custody a former sarpanch.
During the interrogation, the former sarpanch confessed that Appala naidu and some others had planned to eliminate MLA and two others. Based on the confession, the police went in the search of Appala Naidu and took him into custody.
According to the police authority, a former sarpanch of Venkatapuram village in Eluru Rural mandal and hamali workers’ leader Reddy Appala Naidu allegedly planned to eliminate the MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar recently. Reportedly, Appala Naidu had hired supari killers and the deal was closed for Rs 10 lakhs.
The sources say that Appala Naidu’s wife Anuradha is Venkatapuram MPTC and later she became Mandal Parishad president. At the time of election as mandal president, there was an agreement among Telugu Desam Party leaders that after she completes two and half years in office, she should vacate the post in favour of one of Prabhakar’s followers for the remaining term but Appala Naidu did not like this, he decided to eliminate MLA Prabhakar and asked Pandu, a rowdy sheeter, to eliminate MLA.
The police has arrested seven more people for allegedly playing a role in a conspiracy to assassinate MLA.
