Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni starrer village based drama Rangasthalam was released on 30th March. The movie is doing superb collection at the box office. Rangasthalam witnessed its highest opening till date at the Chennai Box office. Recently Tamil Film Producer Council announced that Rangasthalam will be taken off screens.
The Tamil cinema strike has been going on for quite sometime. The stand off between producers and Digital service providers continues as both parties haven’t come to a common solution yet. As a result, no new releases have hit theatres since 16th March.
According to the latest update, The Telugu Film Producers Council has decided to step in and show their solidarity to the Tamil Nadu producers. The Council has decided that they would stop the release of Telugu films in Tamil Nadu from Sunday. That means, Sukumar’s directorial venture Rangasthalam would stop running in Tamil Nadu Theaters in four days. The noted film critic Sreedhar Pillai tweeted, “Telugu Film Producers Council to lend a helping hand and stop screening of Telugu films in TN from this coming Sunday, in support of Tamil Producers including the super hit #Rangasthalam, highest collecting Film at the moment at the Chennai Box-Office!!”
It has also come out that few theatres have decided to seek permission to screen IPL matched instead in the light of no new Tamil releases.
