G Ashok who has delivered several hit movies like Pilla Zamindar and Chitrangada, and currently basking in the glory of his recently released directorial venture Bhaagamathie starring Baahubali fame Anushka Shetty and Unni Mukundan, is all set to helm an International project, which is titled Komagata Maru 1914. The upcoming drama will showcase the historic incident that happened in the British Raj in the year 1914. Komagata Maru incident involved the Japanese steamship Komagata Maru on which a group of citizens of the British Raj attempted to emigrate to Canada in 1914 but were denied entry.
The upcoming big budget drama will be bankrolled by Mehmood Ali of Pen N Camera production house in association with the Canadian Film Council. The movie will go on the floors in June and the makers are planning to shot the film across India, China, Hong Kong and Canada.
