On 14th November, AP Government announced the list of  the  prestigious Nandi Awards for three consecutive years – 2014, 2015 and 2016. Superstar Rajinikanth, Mahesh Babu, Kamal Haasan, Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Rana,  Jr NTR, Ritu Varma were among the many that bagged honours for their performances. Unsurprisingly, SS Rajamouli’s directorial venture Baahubali: The Beginning that released in 2015 bagged 13 awards across different categories.  Baahubali won in the Best Film category.  Rajamouli was honored with the best Director Award, Ramya Krishnan won the Best Supporting actress award for her role as Sivagami and Rana Daggubati, who played Bhalladeva, won the Best Villain Award.   Keeravani, the music composer and KK Senthil Kumar also were part of the long winner’s list.  The film  also won awards for special effects and dubbing as well. While  Baahubali  winning a whopping 13 awards is not the least bit surprising, what is in fact surprising, rather shocking is  Young Rebel star Prabhas, who has given five years for Baahubali  but he is not being honoured for Baahubali in a single category.

The actor weighed around 100 kg as Amarendra Baahubali while as Shivudu he weighed 85 kg.  He also bought gym equipment worth a crore for his workout. Apart from working on his physique, Prabhas also grew his hair and he maintained it for five years, only for Baahubali.

Another big winner at the awards is Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer  Legend released in 2014. The film bagged eight awards. Balayya (Legend), Mahesh Babu (Srimanthudu)  and Jr NTR (Nannaku Prematho and Janatha Garage) won the Nandi awards for best actor for 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively. Naga Chaitanya  who recently tied the knot with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, won the award in the Best Supporting Actor category in 2014 for Manam whereas Stylish Star  Allu Arjun won under the Best Character Actor category for Rudhramadevi in 2015.
