Actor turned politician and Jana Sena Party founder Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Left party leaders organised a padayatra (foot march) on Friday as part of their series of agitations, to exert pressure on the Centre for granting Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The Padayatra started from Benz Circle, Vijayawada, and continued up to Ramavarappadu Junction, covering a distance of about 3km.
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, CPM leader P Madhu and CPI secretary K Ramakrishna took out padayatra on the Chennai-Kolkata Highway. The three parties requested the people to cooperate with the parties as the issue was an important one. They called upon the people to bear with the inconvenience caused by the pada yatra.
Pawan Kalyan’s fans also participated in the padayatra programme. The police had a tough time to regulate the youths, who thronged to have glimpse of the actor and take selfies with him.
Kalyan visited the Ambedkar’s Status near Thummulapalli Kalakshetram and paid his respects to BR Ambedkar. From there he left to the Benz Circle. The Padayatra commenced at around 10:30 am in the morning and ended at 11:40 am.
