Jayamala, the actress who shook her legs with Megastar Chiranjeevi in action crime film Rakshasudu, has become a minister. For the first time in the history of Karnataka politics, an actress has become a Minister while other stars like Anantnag, Umashree and Kumar Bangarappa entered the government as junior ministers.
On Wednesday, Karnataka chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy expanded his two-member cabinet to induct 25 new ministers. 10 JDS ministers are now in place along with 15 Congress ministers. There are some posts which are still vacant .
Jayamala, 62, the item girl has been offered woman and child Development Minister in Karnataka Cabinate. Jalamala is well known face for Telugu, Tamil and Kannada audiences. Jayamala was only the woman to be sworn in as a minister on Wednesday. The actress turned Minister said, “I have never coveted any post. They have recognised my talent.” Jayamala further said, “ I has achieved three first. I am the first MLC from Billava community after independence, the first direct entrant as Cabinet Minister from Kannada Film Industry and automatically I have become the floor leader in the Council.”
The national award winning actress Jayamala has acted with several big Kannada stars like Rajkumar, Ananth Nag, Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Shankar Nag and Prabhakar. Jayamala was at the center of a controversy when she claimed that she touched the Lord Ayyappa idol in Sabarimala. Women from the age 10–50 are banned from entering Sabarimala
The only woman in the cabinet is Jayamala, a Congress MLC. She says the coalition government is a love marriage that will work. During the media interaction Jayamala said, “Both the Janata Dal Secular and the Congress have the same aim. This will work.”
On the otherside, Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently busy in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, which is being helmed by Surender Reddy and produced by Ram Charan.
