The city of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, five hours from Lucknow, witnessed disgrace when a school was turned into a 'dance bar'. The government primary school in Mirzapur was turned into a dance bar on the night of Raksha Bandhan by some locals. According to the report, the school was closed for three days on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. During this period, the gram pradhan took the keys and organized a party on Monday night to celebrate his son's birthday. The program, attended by village heads of nearby areas, organised a dance act, where the girls were seen on dancing on Bhojpuri songs. The video of the same is going viral on the internet and the video features two women dancing on the make shift stage set in front of the class blackboard and it also shows that the village heads trying to match their steps with the dancers in one of the classrooms of the government school as well as showing money on girls.
The festival of Raksha Bandhan which marks the bond of protection, when a brother promises his sister protection from all odds and adversities, could not infuse the moral of the festival into the men who used the school for their crude amusement. Primary Education officer Pravin Kumar Tiwari said that the investigation would be carried out into the incident.
