In terms of collection, it looks like Mahanati  will break several records in the coming days. Critics have been full of praise for Nag Ashwin’s directorial venture Mahanati.

Recently during the media interaction,  cinematographer Dani Sanchez  said that he was on cloud nine when Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, who worked as an assistant director to KV Reddy, complimented his work when they were shooting the Mayabazar segment in Mahanati. Dani Sanchez  also said, “I received a call from Nag Ashwin in April 2017 to come on the board  for Mahanati.”

Keerthy Suresh has also revealed that  she was initially reluctant to accept the role of Mahanati, nervous if she would be able to imitate the veteran. She said it was legendary actress Savitri’s daughter Vijaya Chamundeswari who helped her understand Savitri’s mannerisms and characteristics.

Savitri (Mahanati) was a girl from coastal Andhra Pradesh who ruled over the celluloid world for years. She was the leading lady, for whose dates even top stars waited in Tollywood and Kollywood in the 1950s and 1960s. Savitri suffered several setbacks in her personal and professional life, and died at the age of 41 because of alcoholism.
