Mahanati, directed by Nag Ashwin, which was released on 9th May, has turned out money spinner at the box office. Mahanati- the biopic of legendary actress Savitri, is shattering the box office records and according to the traders report, Mahanati has finally joined the club of $2 Million marks at USA box office. This news is confirmed by trade analyst Jeevi.
Jeevi shared a poster and wrote on the wall of Twitter, “#Mahanati collects $59,672 from 114 USA locations on 2nd Friday at 7 pm PST by taking total to $2 Million! A great achievement for #Mahanati @KeerthyOfficial @Samanthaprabhu2 @TheDeverakonda @dulQuer”
Yesterday Jeevi tweeted, “#Mahanati collects $36,671 on 2nd Thursday from 127 USA locations. Total US gross is $1,954,946. It will cross $2M today (Friday). Fabulous!”
Keerthy Suresh portrayed the role of Savitri whereas Mollywood star Dulquer Salmaan played the role of Gemini Ganesan, the wife of Savitri in Mahanati.
Savitri started her filmy career with bilingual Telugu-Tamil drama Samsaram in 1950, and went on to star in several classics. Her popular movies are Devadasu, Missamma, Bhale Ramudu, Thodi Kodallu, Mayabazaar, Penin Perumai, Pasa Malar and Gundamma Katha.
Apart from Keerthy Suresh and Dulquer Salmaan, Mahanati has other stars like Samantha Akkineni, Vijay Devarakonda, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, Bhanupriya, Krish, Shalini Pandey, Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Krish, Rajendra Prasad, Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam and Malavika Nair in supporting roles.
Mahanati has shown a fantastic performance at the US box office and its collection is almost on par with that of recent big-ticket releases Bharat Ane Nenu( Mahesh Babu and Kiara Advani), Rangasthalam ( Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni) and Naa Peru Surya ( Allu Arjun & Anu Emmanuel).
