Mahanati– the biopic on legendary actress Savitri starring Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Devarakonda,  directed by Nag Ashwin, has finally hit the theaters today. Mahanati is based on the life of late actress Savitri, whose work has a special place in Indian cinema. Savitri was the only actress to receive equal pay to male superstars like ANR and NTR, and she was a race car enthusiast. Let’s see the storyline.

Mahanati Movie Story: Mahanati is the rise and fall story of Savitri. Set in four decades from 50’s to 80’s, the movie throws light on some of  important events of her life both as a superstar and a person, and covers almost all the phase from childhood to her death. Savitri was the most popular star in the male-dominated film industry. Her  career witnessed never-seen-before heights and tragic lows. She worked with almost every superstar of her era. Savitri earned name and fame but died in miserable conditions due to financial and personal issues.

Mahanati Movie Plus points:

  • Keerthy Suresh
  • Samantha Akkineni
  • Dulquer Salmaan
  • Cinematography
  • BGM
  • Art direction

 Mahanati Movie  Minus Points:

  • Second half little bit slow

Mahanati Movie  Performance: Keerthy Suresh reprises the role of Savitri and she has given award worthy performance. Keerthy Suresh knows how to use performance ability. That gives her an easy entry into the cine-world and soon she starts dominating film posters and ruling hearts of her fans. Keerthy Suresh  attracted with her body language and mannerisms. She stuns all with her performance in this film. Credit should go to Nag Ashwin for showcasing her in a stunning way. Nag Ashwin  has complete control over the subject matter in almost every aspect. Samantha Akkineni does justice to the role of Journalist Madhuravani. Her performance is highlighted during the climax when she talks about coma ridden Mahanati. Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan is good. Vijay Deverakonda as Anthony is ok. Naga Chaitany as ANR is good. Mohanbabu  as SVR, Prakash raj as Chakrapani, Avasarala Srinivas as LV Prasad, Director Krishh as Director KV Reddy  performed well.  Rest of the cast performed accordingly.

Mahanati Movie  Technical:  Director Nag Ashwin comes up with strong characters and a screenplay that holds well. He has used actors well. Background music scored by Mickey J. Meyer is good. It adds a lot of value to the scenes. Sound Design deserves a special applause. Cinematography by Dani Sanchez-Lopez is outstanding. The production design is authentic and stands out. The dialogues are good. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is good. Production values by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema are good. Art direction is excellent and it takes us to 80s, 60s, 40s. Technically, the sets and the costumes do justice to the era in which the film is set.

Mahanati Movie Analysis: The First half of Mahanati is good. Second half gets a little slow. The biggest plus of the film is  the presence of Keerthy Suresh and the way she performed the character of Savitri. Mickey J Meyer’s Music, great casting and cinematography makes it good experiences to watch. Watch it for Keerthy Suresh’s performance.
