Officer Story: Officer Narayan Pasari kills three people in encounter in Mumbai. The court orders to investigate Narayan Pasari encounter case. IPS officer Shivaji Rao (Nagarjuna) assigned to investigate the case. He shifts from  Hyderabad to Mumbai, starts the investigation and the reason behind the encounters. The twist arises in the story and Narayan Pasari started to trouble Shivaji. What happens next, form the rest of the story.

Officer Plus Points:

  • Nagarjuna
  • Story

Officer Minus Points:

  • Screenplay
  • Violence
  • Production values
  • Dialogues

Performance: Officer a completely different film for Akkineni Nagarajun.  Nag as an IPS Officer Shivaji Rao delivers his best performance. He looks realistic in simple attire and acts naturally without going overboard.  Myra Sareen is very good as lady officer. Baby Kaavya who essays Nagarjuna’s daughter looks very cute.  Rest of the cast performed accordingly.

Technical: The basic story of  Officer  is like an investigative thriller. A film of this type works only when supported by a taut screenplay but here RGV disappointed the audiences.  The dialogues in the film are  meaningless. The narration style is weird. Editing is fine. Production quality of the film is poor. Cinematography work is good.  Background music by Ravi Shankar is good.  Art direction is ok.

Analysis: Ram Gopal Varma and Nagarjuna joined hands after 28 years for this cop based drama Officer.  First half of the film sets up the plot and is alright. But the second half tests the patience of the audiences. On a whole, Officer is a nice selection from Nagarjuna in terms of story and intent, but RGV has given something which audiences were not expecting! There are extra dose of action and violence in the film.
