Sukumar’s directorial venture Rangasthalam, set in the 80s in a village in Andhra Pradesh and starring Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni, has pleased the critics and fans alike. In the US, the revenge drama has gone on to rake in $2.45 million. Finally Ram Charan’s film has crushed the record of Megastar Chiranjeevi & Kajal Aggarwal’s Khaidi No 150 ($2.44M) and Nithiin & Samantha starrer A..Aa ($2.44M). The trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted, “#RamCharan – @Samanthaprabhu2 ‘s #Rangastalam with $2.45 Million in #USA moves past No.5 – #KhaidiNo150 ($2,447,043) and No.4 – #AAa ($2,449,174) and becomes the new All-time No.4..” Now the Rangasthalam has set its eyes on Mahesh Babu & Koratala Siva’s Srimanthudu which earned $2.87 Million.
Rangasthalam is first $2 Million movie for Ram Charan and second for Sukumar after young Tiger Jr.NTR & Rakul Preet Sing starrer Nannaku Prematho.
In Rangasthalam, Ram Charan plays a small-time village mechanic with a hearing impairment. Also starring Aadi Pinisetty, Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj, the film has music by Devi Sri Prasad and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
