Ram Charan starrer village based drama Rangasthalam, directed by creative and talented film maker Sukumar has kick-started its business at the Chennai box office and has created a history by registering a record business for a Telugu film on the opening day in the capital of Tamil Nadu. According to the traders report, the movie has collected RS 25 Lakh on its opening day and has crushed the record of Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, which had earned Rs 24 Lakh on its opening day and Rangasthalam has also beaten Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Spy thriller drama Spyder, directed by AR Murugadoss, which had collected Rs 18 Lakh, on its opening day. Charan’s film has pushed Mahesh’s Spyder to the third position.
According to the traders, the ongoing Kollywood strike was one of the reasons that helped Charan and Sukumar’s Rangasthalam to do well. No movie has been released in Tamil in the month of March. The industry trackers say that as Ram Charan is the familiar face for the Chennai audiences, people apparently watched his film in the theatres.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Rangasthalam has an ensemble cast Anasuya Bharadwaj, Aadhi Pinisetty, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Amit Sharma, Naresh, Rohini, Gauthami,Bramhaji and Rajesh Diwakar in important roles. Samantha Akkineni is playing the female lead in the film, which has the music by Devi Sri Prasad.
