Editor16 Movie Review :
It is very hard to believe that young director Karthick Narern made his terrific directorial debut with a peachy investigative thriller ‘16’, which unfolds steadily as cerebral suspense thriller and keeps the audiences engrossed from the start and continues in the same breath till the end. 16 is dubbed version of Tamil hit movie ‘Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru’, which has hit the theaters toady on 10th March.
Story: The movie starts with murder case where a serial killer kills a couple in an apartment. The murder case is handed over to a inspector Deepak (Rahman). When Deepak tries to find reason behind the murder, he gets involve in couple of murders (a suicide, a hit & run ) and also gets another call saying an young girl is missing from the apartment with visible blood traces on the floor. Deepak tries to crack the real murderer and also finds a strange connect between these cases. To get the answer that what exactly happened on that night? one should watch the movie on silver screen.
- Performance of Rahman
Minus points :
- Too complex for a common man
Performance: Although there are many characters in the movie but Rahman steals the show with his naturalistic performance. His look, way of dialogue delivery, body language and bold voice that require for a cop, is perfect. Prakash Raghavan, Yaashika Anand, Bala Hasan, Vinod Varma and others supporting actors justify with their roles.
Technical: From technical front, 16 is top notch. Sujith Sarang’s cinematography work is highlighted as the way he used lights and angles that gibes the feel of watching a crime investigation needs applause. The background score enhances the thrill and mystery elements throughout the movie. The multilayered complex script is conveyed with razor sharp and this credit goes to Editor Sreejith Sarang. Karthick Naresh used the sound design and camera angles to narrate the story. Telugu dubbing is good as Hema Chandra’s voice fits Rahman.
Analysis: Overall, 16 is a gripping mystery filled good suspense entertainer movie. The director and actor duo Karthick Naren and Rahman have done terrific job by delivering 16 that engages the audiences throughout and keep throwing surprises till the end. The director steals the show with its execution & screenplay and slick production values make it watchable. The audience is forced to keep guessing throughout the movie. The way murder mystery is solved and how the audiences are confused till the end, needs to be appreciated. It is good for them who love suspense drama.
