2 Countries Movie Review :

Comedian turned actor Sunil and Manisha Raj starrer ‘2 Countries’,  the remake of Malayalam hit movie of same name starring Dileep and Mamta Mohandas, has hit the theaters today i.e 29th December 2017. Let’s see the storyline.

Story: Ullas Kumar (Sunil) is that jobless and carefree lazy young man who is earning from cheap foul plays and some fraud business plans. He is eagerly waiting for a chance to migrate to a foreign country. He marries his childhood friend Laya (Manisha Raj) who was in US for a long time. It is only after marriage that Ullas realises that his wife is an alcoholic.  The cultural differences and Laya’s alcoholic nature puts the marriage in a difficult situation and the movie is talking about the future of this relationship.

Plus Points:

·         Sunil

·         Visuals

·         Production Value

 Minus Points:

·         Routine story

·         Screenplay

·         Comedy

·         Illogical scenes

Performance: Sunil has delivered his best. He is perfect as Ullas.  Manisha Raj, who plays Laya, is brilliant in her role and performs exceptionally well in the comical situations. Sunil and Manisha Raj’s onscreen chemistry is noteworthy.  Srinivas Reddy, Pradhviraj, Naresh, Sayaji Shinde, Dev Gill, Krishnabhagavan, Chandramohan, Rajyalakshmi, Sithara, Raja Ravindra, Shiju, Sanjana Galrani, Jhansi  and many more are there in the elaborate cast who are okay in their characters.

Technical:    The Story of 2 Countries is routine. The screenplay is too elaborate and if you look from where the movie began its journey, it has touched too many events which aren’t that necessary.  The cinematography by C Ram Prasad is good. The Cinematographer scores by bringing the unexplored beauty of US into his frames. Gopi Sundar’s songs are not up to his usual perfection, whereas the background score is good. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is just ok. Production values are rich.

Analysis:  Overall 2 Countries is decent romantic and comedy entertainer movie. The first half of the film has nothing new to offer. However, some twists and turns make the second half interesting and engaging. 2 Countries is a Sunil fare, enjoy it if you are a fan of his, and otherwise laugh on a few borrowed jokes.
