Performance: Suriya took the entire responsibility of the movie on his shoulder and he has once proved that he has ability to grab the attention of audiences by his terrific performance. His top notch and award worthy performance is really appreciable. He appeared in three characters, Mani -a watch mechanic, Sethuraman -Scientist and Athreya-antagonist. Especially in the role of Athreya, he has done fantastic job. His way of uttering dialogue, grabbed several eyeballs. He handled all the three shades without any hiccups. Samantha is looking very attractive and gorgeous. Nithya Menon got less screen space but she performed well and dominates in her character. Her role is like extended cameo. She has lent vocal for lullaby. Saranya Ponvannan in the role of mother has done justification with her role. Ajay and Satyan performed well.
Technical: Director Vikram Kumar has done fabulous job by delivering the different and unique concept of the movie. His direction and way to turn hero to Superhero is awesome. The screen plays and tends to surprise the audiences at crucial junctures especially the interval and the climax potions are appreciable. The movie has the shades of Hollywood movies. It has all the entertainment elements like romance, comedy, thrill and family drama. The technical value of the movie is top notch. The Cinematography work and VFX work are superb. The romantic track between Suriya and Samantha are not much highlighted. The music of the movie is scored by AR Rahman and it gives goose bump during the action sequences. The Editing is handled by Prawin Pudi, is also good but it could be more better by chopping few scenes. The run time of the movie is 164 but the gripping screenplay makes the audiences forget about lengthy runtime. The makers did not compromise with the quality of the movie and the production value is superb. The action sequences are choreographed well.
Analysis: after delivering blockbuster movie “Manam”, one again Vikram Kumar has proved his ability at the box office. The racy screenplay and the concept which is chosen by Vikram is really appreciable. The family union scenes in the second half of the movie look silly. Vikram entertained the audiences with 24 and he has done lot of research for the movie. The twists in the movie are unpredictable. Overall the movie is good entertainer and has all the commercial elements that are suitable for all the genera of audiences. We can say, 24 is Suriya’s best science fiction experimental movie.
