Anando Brahma, an unconventional horror-comedy starring Taapsee Pannu, Vennela Kishore, Srinivasa Reddy, Tagubothu Ramesh and Shakalaka Shankar has hit the theaters today on 18th August. Let’s see the storyline:
Story: A Malaysian based NRI(Rajeev Kanakala) plans to sell his ancestral house after the death of his parents. He entrusts the task of disposing of the house to his friend (Raja Ravindra), a dishonest cop. Ravindra hatches a plan with a builder and starts a rumour about the presence of ghosts in the house. Later a small time waiter(Srinivasa Reddy) requests the NRI that he will prove to everyone that his ancestral home is not hunted. There is no any ghost in the house and if become successful to prove it, he will take 20 % commission. NRI agrees and later waiter makes a plan and approaches three other persons Vennela Kishore, Tagubothu Ramesh and Shakalaka Shankar. He convinced them and heads to the house to prove that there are no any ghost in the house. What will happen next? What does Taapsee fits in this entire setup? To get these answer, one should watch the movie on silver screen.
Performance: This is the first time that Taapsee Pannu is doing a straight Telugu film in which she plays the character of a ghost. As usual she has delivered her best. Though the actress got less screen presence but she performs accordingly. Rajeev Kanakala justifies with his role of NRI. Tagubothu Ramesh who turns an alcoholic after 9 pm plays his role superbly, Vennela Kishore surprises everyone as a blind guy. Shakalaka Shankar cast as a barber with a split personality disorder. Srinivasa Reddy heads the gang and is spot on with his mannerisms and witty dialogues.
Technical: The story line and screenplay format is good. Though Anando Brahma is made on very small budget but looks pretty neat. The brilliant camera work cleverly hides the production value of the film. Krishna Kumar's background score, Anish Tharun Kumar's picturisation, special effects and punch lines are the attractions on the technical front. Dialogues are hilarious and have been written with a lot of wits. The director Mahi has done good job. He narrated the film in an entertaining manner.
Analysis: Overall Anando Brahma is a neat horror comedy movie. The major assets of the movie is the performance of four comedians- Vennela Kishore, Srinivas Reddy, Tagubothu Ramesh and Shakalaka Shankar. The director Mahi V Raghav offers a generous dose of laughter in a film where the ghost, for a change, is scared of human. The first half is neither interesting nor boring as all the characters are introduced one after the other with their flash backs. Gripping and brilliant screen play engages the audiences till end. The credit goes to Mahi V Raghav as he narrates the story in an entertaining manner. The film has all the entertainments including comedy and thrill.
