Sekhar Kammula, the one of the most sensible filmmakers of Tollywood, is making his comeback with youthful romantic entertainer ‘Fidaa’ starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi, which has hit the theaters today on 21st July. Let’s see how the film turns out to be.
Story: Varun (Varun Tej) is a medical student, who resides in the US along with his brothers. Varun convinces his elder brother to get married and accordingly, his brother comes down to India to meet a prospective bride Renuka. Varun also comes down to India and meets Renuka’s sister Bhanumathi (Sai Pallavi) who lives in a village in Telangana. During the marriage, Varun and Bhanumathi become close and as time passes by, love blossoms between the couple but both do not disclose their love for each other. Varun went back to US and Bhanumathi promised her father that she would never leave him even after the marriage. Later Varun comes forward and proposes to Bhanumathi but she rejects Varun’s proposal. Why did Bhanu reject Varun’s proposal? What happens to the promise she made to her father? To get these answers, one should watch the movie on silver screen.

Performance: Varun Tej who grabs the opportunity to act in family entertainer movie, has done fantastic job. He is superb as NRI. His facial expression, body languages are highlighted. He looks handsome and is perfect fit into the role. Sai Pallavi, or better known as Malar, wooed the audience with her wonderful performance. The energy she pumped and carried throughout the movie is fantastic. She looks ravishing in all the song sequences. Her facial expressions from starting to till climax are amazing and unforgettable. The way she carried the emotional scenes is a treat to watch. Harshvardhan Rane performed well. Satyam Rajesh who comes in the second half generate laughs. Rest of the stars performed accordingly.
Technical: Though the story-line of Fidaa is very simple and routine but the director made it interesting with engaging screenplay. The Telangana culture is showcased in a fantastic away and the realistic nature of the characters from the region have been shown well. Dialogues are well written. The songs which are composed by Shakthi Kanth Karthik are catchy and melodious that takes the movie into the next level. The background music scored by Jeevan Babu is good. Cinematography by Vijay C Kumar is superb and the movie has some fantastic visuals of both Telangana and US. He captures the colorful visuals of village locals very well, which is visual treat. The Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. Art department has done a superb job and production values are apt. Shekhar Kammula has done good job to narrated it with some good entertainment will be loved by the family audience. The movie is at his best in technical departments.
Analysis: Overall, Fidaa is good family entertainer movie which is loaded with emotions. If ignore the predictable story line, Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi will entertain the audiences to the fullest. The esthetic visuals, melodies background score, perfect casting, Varun Tej & Sai Pallavi’s performance make the movie watchable.
