Oxygen Movie Review :

Gopichand starrer much awaited action and thriller Oxygen, directed by AM Jyothi Krishna has finally hit the theaters today. Gopichand did not have a good run at the box office with his last two releases, Soukhyam and Gautham Nanda but it seems with this film, he is sure to make a smashing comeback. The actor hopes that the film offers an entertaining time for fans and movie lovers at the theater. Anu Emmanuel and Raashi Khanna are playing the female lead.

Story: Raghupathy (Jagapathi Babu) is an influential person in his village but he decides to go into exile as his near and dear gets killed by an unknown enemy.    He decided to get his daughter Shruti (Raashi Khanna) married and selects a US groom  Aravind Krishna (Gopichand). First Shruti does not like Krishna but soon she falls in love of him. Shruti asks him to come to India leaving everything  in US for her but she was shocked after knowing that her family members are getting killed by Aravind Krishna’s brutally. Why is Aravind Krishna killing Shruti’s family members? What will Shruti do now? Who is Aravind Krishna? To get these answers, one should watch the movie on silver screen.

 Plus Points:

  • Gopichand
  • Interval Bang
  • Cinematography

 Minus Points:

  • Storyline
  • Screenplay
  • Editing

Performance: Gopichand looked so stylish in the film. His body language is different for this movie. He looked terrific in action sequences.  Raashi Khanna and Anu Emmanuel got very limited screen space  to show their acting talent.  Raashi attracted the audiences with her glamour avatar whereas Anu Emmanuel did a homely girl next door role. Sakshi Chowdhary shook legs  in a special song. Jagapathi Babu, Shaam, Chandra Mohan, Shayaji Shinde, Ashish Vidyarthi, Brahmanandam, Abhimanyu Singh and others performed accordingly. Ali, Tagubotu Ramesh and Vennela Kishore tried to attract with his comedy but failed to generate much interest.

Technical:  The storyline is simple. A.M. Jyothi Krishna should have worked on the storyline  and the script as he looked outdated with the narration. Dialogues are fine.  The music of Yuvan Shankar Raja is just ok.  The placement of the songs in the movie looks like speed breaker. Background score are impressive. Chota K Naidu and Vetri's cinematography is excellent and sets the mood for the film.  Art direction is good. Editing of SB.Uddhav  could have been more better. The best part about the film are well designed action sequences. The production values are good.

Analysis: Jyothi Krishna came with a routine, predictable, outdated story and tries to score a hit at the box office elevating the heroism of Gopichand in a powerful mass role with few twists.  Though the director became successful to attract the audiences with Interval bang and tried to send the social message that Smoking is injurious to health. Plus points of the film is presence of Gopichand.  There is nothing special that can grab the attention of audiences at the theaters. The film unit failed to turn it into an awesome entertaining product. Screenplay and narration are the biggest drawbacks. Of course, there are few good moments which keep the viewers engaged but the director  failed to maintain the same standards throughout the movie. Oxygen is just another movie in Gopichand’s career and disappointment for debutante director.
