Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni starrer recently released village based drama Rangasthalam, directed by Sukumar, has turned out blockbuster and according to the latest update, the movie has already crossed Rs 100 Cr mark at World wide Box office. Rangasthalam has become Samantha Akkineni’s eighth movie to have breached the Rs 100 Cr mark at the box office.
Finally Sam has now equaled the records of gorgeous diva Kajal Aggarwal, who has been part of eight movies from Bollywood and South that have done over Rs 100 Cr business. All of Samantha’s movies were made in South, whereas two of Kajal Aggarwal’s Rs 100 crore flicks were made in Bollywood.
Mahesh Babu’s Dookudu, Suriya’s 24, Vijay’s Kaththi, Theri and Mersal, Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Attarintiki Daredi and Young Tiger Jr NTR’s Janatha Garage are the movies on the list of Samantha’s centuries.
The wife of Naga Chaitanya and daughter in law of Akkineni Nagarjuna, is the first South Indian actress to have registered two movies in Rs 100-crore club after her marriage. Shruti Haasan, the daughter of legendary actor Kamal Haasan, is in the third place (seven films). She is followed by Anushka Shetty (five) and Nithya Menen (three) which did over Rs 100 Cr business, although she played second fiddle in all the films.
Interestingly, the lady superstar of South Indian Film Industry Nayantara is yet to register her name in the Rs 100-crore club.
