Reshma, a women artistes in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), actress and singer, was killed allegedly by her husband in Nowshera Kalan area recently. Reshma, who is popular for Pashto songs, had also been the part of a famous Pakistani drama ‘Zhobal Goluna’.
According to the latest report, Reshma, belonged to the Pashtun community, who was the suspect’s 4th wife, used to live with her brother at the city’s Hakimabad area. The police are suspecting that the suspect had entered the house, where Reshma was living and started firing at her, following a domestic dispute. Later he managed to escape from there. This is the 15th such incident of violence against female artists in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year and this is the latest. It is heard that Reshma was shot by her husband at Nowshera Kalan area.
Obaidullah, the brother of Reshma, lodged an FIR with the police and accused her husband Faida Khan of committing the crime. The case has been registered and investigations into the matter have been started. The complete details will be out very soon.
According to the FIR, Reshma’s husband Faida Khan, who was working abroad, had recently returned to the country. Later he went to his in-laws’ residence to convince his wife to return home. However, wife Reshma refused to go with him. Her refusal infuriated Faida Khan who opened fire at his wife and killed her on the spot.
On 3rd February, a stage actress Sunbul was shot dead, after she repeatedly refused to accompany the accused to a private party. The grandfather of the victim said that three attackers entered the residence and shot her fatally after she refused to leave with them.
