Telugu actress Sri Reddy has become the pioneer of the #MeToo movement in India by not just talking about casting couch or s*xual exploitation of women in the film industry, but naming and shaming some of the biggest names in Tollywood. After naming Suresh Babu’s son and Baahbali fame Rana Daggubati’s brother Abhiram Daggubati, Kona Venkat, Koratala Siva, Viva Harsha and Sreeram Chandra, the actress has now alleged that producer Vakada Appa Rao s*xually exploited female artists including minors.
The actress made the revelation during a debate on Telugu news channel. During the debate on the TV show, the channel received a series of calls from artists, who identified themselves as Shreya, Srivaani and Sridevi among others, alleged that they too were victims of Vakada Appa Rao’s cruel intention. Another victim named Hema said that producer Vakada Appa Rao used her ‘for one full night’. He s*xually exploited her on the promise of giving her a role in movies produced by him.
Vakada Appa Rao is associated with big budget movies like Megstar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 and Rangasthalam star Ram Charan’s production venture Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Presently Rao is supplying artists for Chiranjeevi‘s ‘Sye Raa’. Now, these victims are demanding Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan to respond on casting couch.
