Padmaavat: Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was released on 25th January 2018, after several hurdles and it earned Rs 114 Cr at the box office in its first weekend. The periodic drama crossed Rs 300 crore mark in 50 days. Based on 16th century Awadhi epic poem Padmavat, the movie is all about the legendary Rajput queen Rani Padmini.
Baaghi 2: The action thriller film Baaghi 2 that stars Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani in the lead role, had a magical opening at the box office. The movie directed by Ahmed Khan, earned Rs 73.10 Cr after the successful run of first weekend. Baaghi 2 also stars Prateik Babbar, Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles.
Raid: The crime thriller drama Raid, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta starring Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz, received a thumb up from critics as well as fans on its opening day i.e 16th March. Raid opened at Rs 10.04 Cr on its opening day and Rs 41.01 crore in its opening weekend.
PadMan: Akshay Kumar played the role of a taboo-breaker in PadMan, who aims to normalise talking about menstruation and goes on to invent a cheap sanitary napkin machine to help women in rural India. The movie is based on the real-life of PadMan, Coimbatore’s Arunachalam Muruganantham. Written and directed by R Balki, PadMan, opened at Rs 10.26 crore and earned Rs 40.05 cr in its opening weekend.
Veere Di Wedding: Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor’s production venture Veere Di Wedding starring, Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, ShikhaTalsania and Swara Bhasker has earned a total of Rs 36.52 crores in its opening weekend. On last Friday, the film had a winning start at the box office with Rs 10.70 Crand on the second day too, the movie showed an upward trend with Rs 12.25 crore of business. On Sunday the movie earned Rs 13.57 Cr. (Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.25 cr, Sun 13.57 cr. Total: Rs 36.52 cr.)
