It's Official! Disha Patani replaces Shruti Haasan in Sundar Câ€™s Sangamithra
Disha Patani who made her Telugu debut with Varun Tej starrer Loafer in the direction of Puri Jagannadh, has been roped in big budget film Sangamithra. Sundar C's ambitious project Sangamithra created quite a stir on social media after it was launched at Cannes 2017 earlier this year. To be made on an epic scale, Shruti Haasan, the daughter of Kamal Haasan, was supposed to play the titular role in the film.CEO of Thenandal Entertainment, Hema Rukmani, announced on Twitter: "Exclusive: Introducing @DishPatani as #Sangamithra!" [sic.]Director Sundar C's wife, Khushbu has also confirmed the news via her tweet, "We introduce @DishPatani as our beautiful princess #Sangamithra. Shoot to start soon." [sic.] Patani replied, “Really very excited for #Sangamithra Can't wait to start shooting for this wonderful film." [sic.]Sangamithra, is said to be larger than SS Rajamouli's Baahubali franchise. The story is set in the 8th century AD, and it will follow Sangamithra’s struggles and her inspiring journey to save her kingdom. Jayam Ravi and Arya will be seen playing the leading men in the film, which will be made on a budget of Rs 250 Cr. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman and National Award-winning production designer Sabu Cyril are on board for the magnum opus.After Shruti Haasan’s s exit, some of the big names in the South Indian industry including lady superstar Nayantara and Hansika Motwani were reportedly considered for the role of Sangamithra. The upcoming historic drama will mark Disha Patani's debut in Tamil. Currently, Thenandal Studios is courting controversy due to its Diwali release, Mersal, starring Vijay, Samantha, Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal, directed by Atlee.
