Omicron has been detected in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh and Union Territories of Delhi and Chandigarh. Maharashtra state  reported two more fully vaccinated people infected with the Omicron variant of COVID-19, with both having Dubai travel history.  Now according to the latest report, Telangana detected three cases of the highly mutated Omicron variant of Covid-19 on Wednesday. The one patient is from West Bengal had traveled back to the state. The state health authorities  confirmed that three passengers who landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Shamshabad in Hyderabad have tested positive for the new variant.

The cases were reported after one  24 yearsold Kenya national and a Somalia national arrived in Hyderabad.

Another seven years old who was flying to Kolkata had also tested positive for the new variant on arrival in Hyderabad. The Telangana govt had informed West Bengal prior to his arrival.

The World Health Organization- WHO warned that the new coronavirus variant Omicron was spreading at an unprecedented rate and was likely already present in most countries around the world.

 On the otherside, confirming the first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, now Kerala is running the genome sequencing tests on  thirty  more samples at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in Thiruvananthapuram.
