6 AAP councillors join BJP in Surat

Aam Aadmi Party- AAP, which recently got the status of a national party, got a shock in Gujarat. AAP surprised everyone by winning 27 seats in Surat Municipal Elections 2021. Now the party got a shock there. Six AAP corporators said goodbye to the party. All of them joined Bharitya Janatha Party- BJP. In the presence of Gujarat BJP Chief CR Patil and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, they covered themselves with a saffron scarf. 

On Friday midnight, six Aam Aadmi Party municipal councillors in Surat switched sides to join the BJP and  along with them, four AAP councillors who had left the party earlier formally joined the BJP. 

In the Surat municipal elections held in 2021, Aam Aadmi Party-  AAP won 27 seats together and felt aura. With this victory, it made an official entry in Gujarat. Now that party has only 17 corporators left in Surat. Earlier, four corporators joined the BJP fold. BJP won 93 out of 120 seats. With the addition of 10 people from AAP, BJP’s strength has reached 103.

 The 6 municipal councillors who left AAP are Dharmendra Vavaliya, Kiran Khokhani, Ghanshyam Makwana,  Ashok Dhami, Niraliben Patel and Swati Kyada.

The four councillors who had left party earlier are Vipulbhai Movaliya, Jyotikaben Lathiya, Bhavnaben Solanki, and  Rutaben Kheni.
