The moment to be cherished, the moment to be remembered while it is the 73rd year of India’s Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken another historic move today, after the Jammu and Kashmir’s Article 370 and 3(A) abrogation. On speaking to the Independence Day meet at Red Fort, PM Modi announced that India will have a Chief of Defence staff to head the three forces, Army, Air Force, and Navy.

Modi said that “Our forces are India’s pride. To further sharpen coordination between the forces, I want to announce a major decision from the Red Fort. India will have a Chief of Defence Staff – CDS. This is going to make the forces even more effective”

PM further declared that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) would be a four-star officer either belonging to Army, Navy or Air Force will be ahead to all the three forces chief’s and would be a single point of contact between the Prime Minister and them. This would not only enhance the security of the country but also streamlines in prioritizing the defense spending less time to meet the PM and communicating the three forces over the decisions.

No doubt, this is really another historic step from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which will gather huge applause and accolades to him.
