A day after Aam Aadmi Party- AAP and Bharatiya Janata Party -BJP engaged in a war of words through separate press conferences and sloganeering, Delhi MCD House proceedings resumed on Friday. The House was adjourned by newly elected mayor Shelly Oberoi on Thursday, after being resumed twice in morning.
AAP, which won the Delhi municipal elections and won the mayor’s seat after many setbacks, suffered a setback. Bawana ward councilor of that party, Pawan Sherawat, had joined the Bharitya Janatha Party – BJP alleging that he felt suffocated due to corruption in the party led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He also said that he was distressed as Aam Aadmi Party- councillors were instructed to create a ruckus in MCD House meeting.
It is noteworthy that he covered himself with a Bharitya Janatha Party scarf a few minutes before the Standing Committee polls. After joining Bharitya Janatha Party, Pawan Sherawat, said that AAP had put pressure on him to create chaos in the Delhi Municipal Corporation House. He criticized AAP’s politics as suffocating him.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation meeting held last night at 11 o’clock turned into a rashbhasha. The councilors of BJP and AAP engaged in a war of words. Water bottles and fruits were thrown. Meanwhile, AAP won the mayor and deputy mayor elections held on Wednesday evening.
