Acharya, the social drama brought together Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan together on the screen but it failed to impress the movie lovers. Director Koratala Siva initially intended the film to have Chiranjeevi playing the central character. As he worked on the story, the scope for another strong male character emerged. Mega Power Star Ram Charan, enthused with the story, agreed to come on board. The budget of Acharya was around Rs 140 crore but it managed to earn around Rs 40 cr at the box office. Apparently, the film Acharya helmed by Koratala Siva suffered a loss of over Rs 84 cr.
Chiranjeevi had taken the remuneration of Rs 50 Cr while Ram Chran took Rs 10 cr . Pooja Hegde played the female lead and Sonu Sood was also a part of the film.
In his filmy career, Ram Charan saw enough number of hits and flops. But for director Koratala Siva, Acharya is the first flop in five movies he helmed. Every filmmaker delivers average or below average or a flop at the box office and it is not easy to deliver a success every time.
On the otherside, Chiranjeevi is currently working for Godfather which has Nayanthara as the leading lady.
