Ponnambalam once made his mark as a fighter in Telugu and Tamil films. At that time he appeared on the screen along with all the star heroes of these two languages. In a recent interview, Ponnambalam shared many things.
Ponnambalam said, “We have a very big family. After my father died, all the family burden fell on me. I did some jobs but I came here because of my interest in films. My first film in Telugu was ‘Gharana Mogudu’. I was asked for a fight in that film, I asked for a reward of one lakh rupees. Chiranjeevi himself was shocked to know that such an amount was asked.”
Ponnambalam further said, “I told the producer to give me money only after seeing how my fight would be. I also told him that the fight was good and gave me one lakh rupees. The film ran for 175 days. After that, Chiranjeevigaru called me and asked me to go to the office and meet him. If I went there, they gave me 5 lakhs. Then I thought it was an advance for the film. But I was shocked to know that Chiranjeevi garu told me to it as a gift.”
