We already learnt that film director Ram Gopal Varma was strictly condemned by AP Women’s Commission for raising bad comments on NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. And now, for that reason, the director has been again booked by Uttar Pradesh police in most recent times.

The police have filed an FIR against the director at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on the complaint of a social worker, Manoj Singh. Mentioning RGV’s substandard tweet in front of the police, Manoj said the tweet is an intentional attempt to debase the atmosphere which may result in infelicitous incidents.

Raghavendra Mishra, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone said, “Varma has been booked under sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory), 504 (intentional insult), 505 1(b) (cause fear or alarm to the public), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), of the Indian Penal Code and also under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.” He also said that a probe will be conducted and statements of the director will be taken.

Reacting to denouncements he received for his tweet, RGV said, “The words tweeted are just zealous paradoxes, but not intended in any other way. Draupadi in Mahabharat is my favourite character but as the name is rare, I just remembered the connected characters and it is my expression. I did not intend to hurt the sentiments of anyone in the society.”

Anyway, RGV has to put his tongue on hold and should behave in a decent manner in order to secure his fame as an eccentric filmmaker.
