Agni V missile is a newer generation of the missile having 3 stages of solid rocket motors. With the successful trials of the nuclear capable Agni V ballistic missile earlier this week, our country India has now developed the capability to the strike targets beyond the range of 7,000 Km. The People of Odisha, Kolkata, Odisha and some regions of Northeast India were surprised to see a big flash in the sky on the night of December 15, 2022. This was the flash of the new India where the scientists and strategic forces carried out test firing of extended range of Agni V, nuclear capable surface to surface missile.
India has been testing Agni V missile since 2012 and the test on 15th December was the 9th one.
Sources in the defense establishment revealed that the Defence Research and Development Organisation -DRDO has been able to reduce the weight of the Agni V missile by replacing steel content with composite materials.
The sources said the decision to test the missile for its new maximum possible range will have to be taken by the government. It provides our country India with stronger deterrence against China, which has a huge nuclear arsenal and missiles like Dong Feng-41 that can hit any Indian city.
