We have already reported that Suriya Sivakumar starrer Soorarai Pottru, which released on Amazon Prime to much critical acclaim, is going to Bollywood. The movie will be remade in Hindi with Sudha Kongara directing. Now according to the latest buzz in the film industry, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is going to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru/ Akasam Nee Haddura.
In past, Akshay Kumar has acted in huge number of South remakes in Hindi such as Rowdy Rathore, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Laxmi Bomb. Now he is all set to act in the remake of Soorarai Pottru. The movie will be produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, and Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment.
Soorarai Pottru was released in Tamil on Amazon Prime Video. Dubbed in Kannada and Malayalam under the same title and in Telugu as Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa, Suriya and Sudha Kongra’ film was recently selected for Shanghai International Film Festival 2021. The movie also had Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal, Mohan Babu, Krishnakumar, Vivek Prasanna and Karunas in important roles.
Soorarai Pottru chronicles the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath and the aviation industry. The movie was made for a theatrical experience but released on an OTT platform due to the coronavirus pandemic.
