OTT releases have opened new ways of recovering investment for the producers. In the current situation, as more than a couple of months will be taken for the government to issue orders to reopen theaters and multiplexes, some of the producers are looking for OTT releases. This is indeed very useful for audiences as well who are looking for entertainment.
However, OTT released movies so far in India have performed badly. None of the direct OTT releases have gained positive response which is quite alarming. If the situation persists like this, then OTT platforms might think twice to buy films. So all eyes are on those two movies which are going to get released directly through OTT.
One is Malayalam movie Sufiyum Sujathayum starring Jaya Surya and Aditi Rao Hydari. This movie is releasing on Prime on July 3rd. On the other hand, Telugu movie Bhanumathi Ramakrishna which has Naveen Chandra in the lead role is releasing on the same day on Aha. If these two films click well with the audience then they will gain confidence. If not, a troublesome road is ahead for other filmmakers as well.
