Post recent floods around Krishna river, the declared capital Amaravati was considered as a flood-prone area and over many weeks, it turned tough to set the Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh for the Jagan led YSRCP government. Now, YCP has appointed a separate expert committee to review and give verdict on developmental plans that were initiated in Amaravati. From the reports, it was known that this expert committee would suggest an out and out expert strategy on the capital and the development of the state.

From the reports it was known that the committee comprises of architects and city planners which includes Dr. Mahaveer from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Dr. Anjali Mohan, Urban and Regional Planner, Prof Shivananda Swamy, CEPT, Ahmadabad, Prof KT Ravindran, Delhi School of Architecture and Dr. KV Arunachalam, Retd Chief Urban Planner of Chennai.

It was known that this team will also comprise of an expert on environmental issues and flood management. The committee will be headed by the retired IAS officer G N Rao. Close sources have spilled the beans that the government has given this team with the time limit of six weeks to submit the overall report.
