Proficient director Mani Ratnam‘s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan-1 had a decent theatrical run at the global box office. It has crossed the 400 crore gross collections mark just within two weeks of its theatrical release. Now, the film has become the first Tamil movie to beat Kamal Haasan’s Vikram movie, which is a top-grosser in the Tamil region.
Now, its OTT platform and thhe release date have also been announced by the makers. The international OTT giant Amazon Prime Video has acquired the streaming rights of the movie and recently, the platform has announced that the film is likely to be available from the last week of November, while its makers are looking to allow its OTT debut only after 8 weeks from its theatrical release.
So, movie lovers have to wait for nearly 40 days to watch the grandiose on small screens. The film’s fixed OTT release date might be divulged by the platform, sometime in the month of November.
Ponniyin Selvan-1 consists of an ensemble cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishearya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and others in significant roles. It comes under the genre of historical period drama, produced by Mani Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. Soundtracks were given by music master A.R.Rahman.
