The popular anchors Anasuya Bharadwaj and Suma Kanakala have broken the hearts of their haters. Both the anchors Suma Kanakala and Anasuya Bharadwaj were in for a rude shock when a media house reported that there were raids in their houses owing to the non-payment of GST. Both the hosts took to social media to quash the reports.

Suma Kanakala shared a video on microblogging page and said, “ There is a news in the film industry that her house has been raided by GSH officials. Which house? Where? I have been a prompt payer of GST.” She requested the journalists to check the authenticity before posting such rubbish about me.”

Anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj also fired on media and said, “Media is meant to give information. Not to give personal assumptions.

According to the latest report, anchor turned actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has paid Rs 25 lakh out of a sum of Rs 80 lakh as service tax dues. She has to pay Rs 55 lakh more. GST officials inspected her house in the month of May in connection with non-payment of service tax during the pre-GST regime and issued notices to her.

Balaji Majumdar, additional director general, Directorate General of GST Intelligence, said, “According to our investigation, Anasuya Bharadwaj has not paid Rs 35 Lakhs as service tax. The interest on the same amount would be around Rs 15 Lakhs. And the penalty would be the same as the tax not paid. So the total amount is Rs 80 Lakhs and Anasuya Bharadwaj has paid Rs 25 Lakhs and she is yet to play the rest of the amount.

On the other side, Anasuya Bharadwaj said, “I was asked by the GST officials to pay the amount in May 2019. Before GST, in 2013-14, due to ignorance of the law, I did not pay the prescribed amount. I have not been served any notice. They came to my home in May 2019 and checked everything and didn’t find any money.”

Anasuya Bharadwaj further added, “I have been paying GST ever since it has been implemented. The money that I have paid now is not related to GST but Service tax.”
