Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards are given to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding character, values, ethics and dedication to their communities. US President Joe Biden has recognized Andhra born Indian American and a longtime Houstonian, Krishna Vavilala, with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
86-year-old Indian-American, originally from Andhra Pradesh, Krishna Vavilala is recognised with Presidential Lifetime Achievement. Krishna Vavilala is a long time resident of Houston. The PLA Award is the country’s highest honor for contribution to the community and country.
PLA Awards, led by AmeriCorps, is the annual event held to honor the citizens, who exhibit outstanding character, worth ethic, and dedication to their communities. AmeriCorps, an agency of the United States government, engages more than 5 million Americans in service through a variety of volunteer work programmes in many sectors.
Krishna Vavilala, a resident of Houston for the past four decades, was recognized as a “change maker and global humanitarian” for lifetime of service and achievements at the glittering ceremony last week. He attended the event with his wife Prabhat Lakshmi, 2 daughters, named Monica and Amanda, and four grandchildren.
Krishna Vavilala is a retired electrical engineer and is currently the founder and president of the Foundation for India Studies –FIS. He has also served as a President of the American Society of Indian Engineers, Telugu Cultural Association, Houston and the Telugu Literary and Cultural Association.
