Another tragedy happened in Bollywood. Padma Shri Sulochana Latkar, who won the hearts of crores of fans with her performances in Hindi and Marathi films, passed away on Sunday. 94-year-old Sulochana Latkar died of old age at Sushrusha Hospital in Mumbai, family members said. Sulochana Latkar has done films with famous actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Dilip Kumar.
The famous actress has played prominent roles in many Maratha and Hindi films.
Sulochana Latkar was born on July 30, 1928 in Khadaklarat village of Chikodi Taluk, Belgaum. She entered the film industry in 1943. She has played various roles in Marathi and Hindi films. Her roles in many movies like Katipatang, Dil Deko Dekho, Gora Aur Kaala became memorable. ‘Sangatye Aika’, ‘Molkarin’, ‘Maratha Thituka Melwava’, ‘Saadi Manasam’, ‘Ekti’ are memorable films in Sulochana’s career. Sulochana made her acting debut in Hindi cinema after becoming popular in the Marathi film industry.
Her film Mukti with Motilal was also popular. After that she also worked as a co-star with Prithviraj Kapoor, Nazir Hussain and Ashok Kumar. She acted as a heroine in 30 to 40 films. She played the role of a mother for the first time in the film ‘Dil Deke Dekho’ released in 1959. After that, till 1995, she played the role of ‘mother’ to many famous actors. Se has done 50 films in Marathi and 250 in Hindi.
