It is known that Samantha Ruth Prabhu is playing Queen Shakuntala, in the Gunasekhar directorial mythological drama, Shaakuntalam. The movie is all about Shaakuntala and Dushyanta’s love saga, based on Kalidasa’s play “Abhignana Shakuntalam”. In the mythological tale of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, daughter of Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka, starring opposite Samantha is Malayalam actor Dev Mohan playing Dushyanta, the king of Puru Dynasty. Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha is making her feature film debut as Prince Bharata. The big budget project is helmed by Gunasekhar and is produced by Neelima Guna and Dil Raju under their respective banners Gunaa Teamworks and Dil Raju Productions. There is a strong buzz in the film industry that Anushka Shetty is also the part of Samantha and Neelima Guna’ film Shaakuntalam.
But these reports were denied by the movie Shaakuntalam co-producer Neelima Guna, who said that Anushka Shetty has helped in Shaakuntalam’s making but did not act in it. She added that the inclusion of Anushka Shetty in Shaakuntalam is just a rumor. The fact that Anushka worked with director Gunasekhar earlier for Rudhramadevi also fuelled these rumors.
Shaakuntalam has the music by Mani Sharma. The mythological love drama of Samantha and Dev Mohan is a pan-India big-budget film which will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
