A city court has directed former Andhra Pradesh BJP chief Kanna Lakshminarayana, his wife and son to pay Rs 1 crore compensation to his daughter-in-law in a domestic violence case. The police have also directed by the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Court in Vijayawada to provide protection to Srilakshmi Keerti.
Incase they fail to protect her, then the minister, his wife Kanna Vijayalakshmi and their son Kanna Nagaraju have to pay Rs 50,000 per month. As keerthi’s daughter need treatment, the magistrate also asked the respondents to pay Keerti Rs 50,000. On Wednesday, the court made it clear that if they are not able to pay 50,000 per month also, they will have to pay 12% interest instead.
The couple Kanna Nagaraju and Keerti got married with each other in the year 2006, and they both have a 9-year-old daughter now. Since Keerti has been suffering from a domestic violence practiced by her in-laws along with his husband up on her, she filed a domestic violence case against them. She explained that her mother-in-law used to taunt her and was not permitting to meet her parents.
She alleged that Nagaraju had develpoed extramartial relations with another womwn and was harassing her. And when Keerti questioned him about the matter, he bet her. Due to these circumstances, she approached the court and solicited for protection to her daughter, accommodation and treatment expenses.
