The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the health officials to offer a financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to each mother who delivered a baby under C-section. This assistance provided under the YSR Asara scheme has thus been raised from the present Rs 3,000.
Yesterday, Jagan organised a high-level meeting with health minister Vidadala Rajani and top officials. He said that mothers who deliver a baby at C-section will get Rs 5,000, on par with mothers who deliver babies normally. He also said that this would ensure protection for mother and child irrespective of the way they deliver.
It has been informed by the officials to the chief minister that 2,446 procedures were being covered under the Arogyasri scheme. Jagan asked them to develop the number of procedures to be done under the scheme so that the poor get healthcare free of cost under the scheme. According to the health data, Andhra Pradesh is spending Rs 270 crore per month under the Arogyasri scheme, Rs 25 crore for the 104 and 108 services, Rs 35 crore for the YSR Asara a scheme and Rs 4,000 crore for Arogyasri scheme annually.
