Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to issue notification for the formation of 13 new districts, so that the total number of districts will be 26 in the state. He said that the final decision will be revealed on January 26, on the occasion of Republic day.

Till now, due to the delay in completion of census procedure, the dispensation of the notification has been postponed. According to the reports,  the state government had taken the centre’s acquiescence to proceed for the formation of new districts.
Earlier, the centre had ordered all state governments not to alter the Gerographical boundaries of current districts till the census process has completed. But, as the census process has adjourned ascribed to the pandemic situations, the state government seeked an approval from Union home ministry regarding the creation of new districts.
While Jagan was in the position of opposition leader, had sweared to create new districts after coming to power. According to the initiation, each of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies would be converted into districts, while Visakhapatnam might be divided into 4 districts if Paderu becomes a district, with Vizianagaram as its headquarters. Then the other 3 districts would be VIzag, Anakapalli and Araku. Anyway, after furnishing the notification, suggestions as well as objections rendered by the public, will be delivered by the government.
