Polling for MLA Kota MLC election is going on in Andhra Pradesh. The MLAs of the ruling and opposition parties are exercising their right to vote in the polling booth set up in the state assembly premises. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has already exercised his right to vote. Despite the lack of strength in this election, polling became inevitable as Telugu Desam Party-  TDP came into the fray. Polling will be held till four o’clock in the evening.  

 Eight candidates-seven from YSRCP and one from TDP are in the contest. Polling in being held to elect seven members to the Upper House.

7  YSRCP candidates have filed nominations for equal number of MLC seats, which will fall vacant in the AP Legislative Council by the end of this month March.

C. H. Yesuratnam, Bommi Israel, Kola Guruvulu, Jayamangala Venkataramana, Marri Rajasekhar, Pothula Sunita and Penmetsa Varaha Venkata Suryanarayana Raju are the seven candidates from the ruling party.

Members whose term will expire on 29th March include Bucchula Arjunudu, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, Nara Lokesh, Pothula Sunitha, and Gangula Prabakar Reddy, while Challa Bagheedhar Reddy’s term lapsed on 2nd November, 2022.
