It happened as expected. Pakistan lost hosting Asia Cup. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to move it to another place. In fact, Pakistan is supposed to host this year’s Asia Cup. However, the BCCI has decided not to send its team to Pakistan in the wake of political tensions between India and Pakistan. Since then, the management of the Asia Cup has been cast in a dark shadow.

Pakistan has tried to threaten that if the Indian team does not come, they too will not come to the ODI World Cup in India. As those efforts failed, the Indian team proposed to play its matches in a neutral country. The PCB has proposed a hybrid model where India will play its matches in the UAE and the remaining matches will be held in Pakistan.

However, the Asian Cricket Council decided to move the Asia Cup to another country due to support from member countries. The ACC is of the opinion that the proposal of ‘neutral country’ proposed by Pakistan is not acceptable and if India and Pakistan are in the same group then the third team will have to rotate between Pakistan and UAE.

In this background, it was decided to move the Asia Cup to another country. With this, it seems that the Asia Cup is now likely to be held in Sri Lanka. However, the Pakistan Board is hopeful that the ACC will change its mind in the second round of talks to be held today.
