The Asian Games 2022 will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China and they will be co-organised by 5 cities. This multi-sporting event has been scheduled to happen from September 10-25 this year. 40 types of sports are to conducted in this event with a total of 61 disciplines, including olympic sports such as Archery, athletics, badminton, equestrian, fencing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi, swimming and many others.
After the approval from the Olympic Council of Asia, E-sports and breakdancing will debut in the 2022 Asian Games as full medal sports. Additionally, cricket has also included in the event by means of audience interest. India is one of the 7 countries that have participated in all the editions of the Asian Games, ans also it is a member of the South Asian Zone of the Olympic Council of Asia.
Except in the 1990 edition, India has been achieving atleast one gold medal at every Asian Games and always placed in top 10 nations those win gold medals. Speaking about India’s achievements, the country has won 139 gold, 178 silver and 299 bronze medals at the event so far.
The exclusive rights for 2022 Asian Games have been acquired by Sony Pictures Networks India, from November 2021 to September 2023. This association will give SPN exclusive rights to broadcast the 19th edition of the Asian Games on its sports channels across India and its subcontinents. The event will be live streamed on SonyLIV.
This time, India is expecting to increase the tally of winning medals at the tournament.
