The migrant workers, who were walking to Bhusawal from Jalna to board a Shramik Special train to return to MP, were sleeping on the railway tracks when the accident occurred b/w Badnapur and Karmad railway stations in Nanded Division.

At least 16 migrant workers returning to their homes in Chhattisgarh amid the nationwide lockdown died and 5 people sustained injuries after being run over by a goods train in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad. This accident took place on Friday at 5:30 am.

 This accident occurred after a goods train ran over them near  Karmad railway station in Aurangabad district in Maharashtra on early morning. While 16 people were killed, 5 others were injured.

Aurangabad Superintendent of Police, Mokshada Pati said, “16 peoples have died in this  incident while 1 is seriously injured. The other 4 who survived in the incident are being counselled so that we can get more information form them about this mishap.”

The migrant labourers who died in Aurangabad Train Accident belonged to Umariya and Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh Government has announced Rs 5 Lakh Compensation for Kin of 16 Killed.

India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he is anguished by the loss of lives in the Aurangabad, Maharashtra train accident in which 16 people were killed.
